The Garden in August

The garden supplies the cafe with fresh flowers and produce two times a week in the summer.

This photo shows the garden’s cucumber bed overflowing with productive vines in the center and the hot pepper bed on the right. August has been all about harvesting flowers and produce for the garden.

These are very sweet Sungold cherry tomatoes. The trellised vines act as an afternoon shade screen for the basil plants on the other side.

Here are Serrano peppers.

We had some lovely red onions planted last fall by the previous gardener, Anne Scott. The bucket holds cranberry beans.

This beautiful black butterfly on one of the zinnias looks like a Pipevine Swallowtail. It’s always fun and a lot of work to spend time in the garden.
